Alabama added two more players to the NFL payroll today as defensive tackle Josh Chapman and cornerback De’Quan Menzie were taken in the fifth round. This bring the total number of Crimson Tide players drafted (so far) to seven.
Chapman, a 316-pound defensive tackle was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the 136th pick overall. He was an Honorable Mention All-American and Second-Team All-SEC by AP and league coaches. He had 22 tackles on the season while helping the Tide lead the nation in rushing yards allowed.
Menzie was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 146th overall pick. The lockdown corner started opposite Dre Kirkpatrick and led all Tide corners with 37 tackles. It is thought Menzie may make the transition to safety, where the Chiefs are in dire need of depth.
