Alaama has averaged 1 national championship every 39.5 days in 2012.

No excuses. Forget the two hours of sleep from watching a rain-delayed softball championship. Forget throwing up a quick stat to fire up the fan base. Come on guy, how do you misspell the name of your home state?
I lost count of how many times this post was retweeted before I noticed the error. Then I began to notice two things: a lot of you were merciful, correcting my error in your own Tweet of the statistic. Secondly, that a lot of Auburn or other rival fans were retweeting in order to point out the error.
Which of course is fine by me: all publicity is good publicity. And we certainly spend plenty of time around here noting the creative use of words by our rivals down on the Plains. It’s all in good fun, at least on our part.
The fact remains; that’s an amazing stat. Alabama is the national champion four times over this season, and very nearly claimed a fifth. So much for the meme that we’re ‘just a football school.’ A rising Tide has, in this case, truly lifted all boats.
So in the future, we’ll try to check our work before posting. It’ll save our fellow Crimson Tide fans the trouble of having to explain why one of their favorite Tweeters can’t spell the name of his own team. And you Auburn fans will have one less thing to crack wise about, as you try to laugh off that increasingly empty-looking trophy case.
