The Alabama Crimson Tide played its second game of the season in the 2K Sports Classic against the University of West Alabama and won by a count of 80-49 in Coleman Coliseum Sunday evening.
The Crimson Tide (2-0, 0-0 SEC) didn’t look back as they started on a 10-2 run to tip off the game and never lost the lead. The closest West Alabama (0-1, 0-0 Gulf South) got to taking the lead was a 15-14 score on a jumper by Jack Hill, but things quickly got out of hand and the Tide finished up with the win.
Trevor Lacey stole the show once more, coming off his game-winning three-pointer to win over SDSU 70-67. He finished the day with 23 points and was perfect from 3-point land, tossing five balls into the bucket from outside the arc. He also had three rebounds and led the team with four assists. Through his first two games of the season, Lacey has 38 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
The Tide also led in bench points, but not by much; Alabama had 16 to West Alabama’s 14. Thirteen of Alabama’s points came off of 25 turnovers by West Alabama. The first half wasn’t as clean as the second half for Alabama, as they committed ten turnovers in the first half, compared to 4 in the second.
The Tide will travel to New York in Madison Square Garden to continue in the 2K Sports Classic. They have Oregon State Thursday night at 6pm CT, which will be televised on ESPN2.
