Although only four games into the 2012-2013 campaign, Alabama head coach Anthony Grant and the Crimson Tide are building a strong resume for the NCAA tournament after taking down a PAC-12 team and a Big East team to win the 2K Sports Classic by beating Villanova 77-55.

Point guard Trevor Releford got his first start of the season and capitalized with a 25-point performance, including a perfect 5-for-5 mark from behind the three-point line. Releford added two rebounds and two assists.

Releford’s sharpshooting from behind the arc spurred the Tide to a 9-for-16 from three-point land, helping guard/forward Rodney Cooper to his 17 points.

Replacing Releford as the key contributor off-the-bench was fellow point guard Retin Obasohan, who added seven points in a 50 percent shooting night.

Levi Randolph was the Tide’s leading rebounder with five. Cooper, Trevor Lacey and Nick Jacobs had four.

Alabama will now return to Coleman Coliseum for a two-game homestand against Charleston Southern and Lamar.
