The Alabama Crimson Tide’s 49-0 victory over Auburn was not without bad news.
Junior wide receiver Kenny Bell is out for five to six weeks after suffering a broken leg during the Tide win. Bell’s leg was injured when an Auburn player inadvertently rolled into him.
Bell is a big loss for an already thin wide receiving corps. Sophomore DeAndrew White (knee) and freshman Chris Black (shoulder) were also lost for the season due to injuries.
The six-foot-one, 180-pound junior has 16 catches on the season for 416 yards and three touchdowns.
AJ McCarron said after the game against rival Auburn that Bell would be missed in the starting lineup, but that the Tide would have to press on.
“He’s a playmaker for us, but we’re going to have some younger guys step up and make plays. We’ve had guys go down all year long, so it’s not going to be anything new. We’re just going to get somebody to step up and make plays in his position.”
