Alabama Football: Tide Players In The NFL

Despite Greg McElroy’s success against Arizona Cardinals, NY Jets coach Rex Ryan should stick with Mark Sanchez

He should go back to Sanchez. McElroy is a game manager. He is not a playmaker. He doesn’t have a big arm. There is a reason he was inactive the first 11 games of the season. He is not the future. The Jets are still alive in the wild-card race (the Patriots clinched the AFC East) and I just wouldn’t put December and the season in the inexperienced McElroy’s hands.

Rolando McClain banned 2 games

McClain was present at the start of practice Wednesday before being asked to leave amid speculation he might be released. Allen asked McClain to stay home from the facility on Thursday, saying there needed to be “consequences to his actions.”

Julio Jones stays quiet in fantasy against Saints on Thursday night

Julio Jones caught five passes for 48 yards on a team-high eight targets against the Saints in Week 13. The Falcons continued to run the ball well, and after the offense stalled in the second half, Jones didn’t have much of a chance to make a huge impact.

Trent Richardson injury update: Fantasy value high despite litany of ailments

Richardson has recorded at least 122 total yards of offense in each of his last four games, rushing for two touchdowns. He is one of four running backs with at least 40 receptions this season.

Mark Ingram’s role becoming clear

Ingram has had a season-high 67 rushing yards in each of the last two games. That’s silenced some critics who were skeptical about Ingram after a rookie season that was far from spectacular. If critics still remain, they might want to consider some other numbers that go beyond Ingram’s rushing totals.

Ryans cementing himself as Eagles’ leader

“When you come to a new team, the first thing you want to do is just be quiet and work as hard as you can and earn the guys’ respect because that’s not something that’s just going to be given to you,” Ryans said.

Ravens: LB Courtney Upshaw playing DT in sub package

“With the big guys down there, it’s different than being on the edge,” Upshaw said. “On the edge you have a lot more space. It’s a battle in there, but I’m a competitor.”

Football journey: Dont’a Hightower

Why he attended the University of Alabama: “I’m from a small place, from the country, so we’re real big on tradition. Alabama is a really good school, education-wise and in football; Nick Saban has done a great job everywhere he’s been. It came down to Alabama and Vanderbilt.”
