Auburn Football: Your Weekly Auburn Zen - Assistant Search Edition

It’s that time again, where we watch the Barn burn by seeing what they have to say on the Auburn message boards. Right now the Gus Bus is making several stops to try to pull together a coaching staff, and the ‘thanks but no thanks’ responses are coming fast. As always, spelling and grammar errors are in the originals.

This is a 100 million dollar a year business, but for what every reason AU runs it like a mom and pop operation..The lack of experience across the board is disturbing

We basically fired the teachers and hired the students.

I believe Malzahn was handcuffed by Chizik. Which is why I am stoked Gus is back. Because I can’t wait to see his offense unleashed, play on Saturdays.

I’m going to support Malzahn, and I’m trying to get behind the hire more and more, but I’m tired of fans talking about how great of recruiters these coaches are. We’ve already seen what a staff full of recruiters and no coaching will get you (minus a once-in-a-generation talent).

I’m sure a lot more of the established coaching staffs are working towards 2014 right now… they’re not having to try to hold together the 2013 class.

Craig played Auburn and probably burned his last bridge with Auburn.

According to numerous reports — look it up on Twitter — we’ve offered a high school coach from South Carolina as our QB coach.

AUBURN, Alabama – Bobby Bentley, who won four consecutive state titles in South Carolina and is known for his high-scoring offenses, has been offered the job as Auburn’s quarterback coach.

Bobby Bentley tweeted this about 20 minutes ago: “I am committed to District 5 and Byrnes High School.I have not taken a job at any other school and will be coaching at Byrnes High School.”

I was 100% percent for keeping Trooper. How does everyone else feel?

If Malzahn didn’t want him, he shouldn’t have stayed. That’s what happened. But Trooper Taylor gets the most unfair shake as a coach that I’ve ever seen. Guy gets crucified for no reason, and it has always pissed me off.

My biggest hang up on him was that the Taylor’s filed a discrimination lawsuit against the Auburn school system because he didn’t think his son should have to follow the rules that were in place before they got there. That doesn’t scream a good figure head for a disciplined football team to me.

My brother who knows nothing about Auburn football said we would fire our coach after we lost to Vanderbilt.
