Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Nico Johnson has accepted an invite to the 2013 Senior Bowl to be played on January 26th, 2013 in Mobile, Alabama. The Senior Bowl’s official twitter account tweeted the news of Johnson accepting the invite.

Nico Johnson becomes the first Alabama player to be announced as a participant in the Senior Bowl, but look for several more to join him in Mobile. Defensive end Quinton Dial, safety Robert Lester, defensive end Damion Square, and tight end Michael Williams are the ones I could see receiving and accepting invites to the game. Also, don’t be surprised if long snapper Carson Tinker gets an invite as well.
Senior offensive lineman Chance Warmack and Barrett Jones are likely to get invites, but I’d be surprised if either accepted with both being projected as first round picks. The Senior Bowl is usually for later round picks that are trying to improve their draft stock.
Nico Johnson is one of the leaders of the Crimson Tide’s defense, and is third on the team with 54 tackles. Johnson has been a meaningful contributor for Alabama since his freshman season in 2009, and has been a key cog on two National Championship defenses, and could get his third ring in Miami on January 7th against Notre Dame.
