Tim Williams may very well be the most intriguing recruit in Alabama’s recruiting class this year. It came as a surprise to many when Williams committed to the Tide on Jan. 14 over his hometown team, LSU, however, the Tigers had a point in giving Williams only minimal interest.
Williams’ film is by no means the most impressive out there at his position. He is not the biggest guy, and at this point he gets away with some things off of pure athleticism and quickness. Don’t be mistaken though, Williams has a tremendous upside. He is a high-motor player with a ton of raw talent that can easily be developed.
At Alabama, he will most likely move to outside linebacker at the Sam spot, where he will be able to utilize his speed while dropping back into coverage, chasing down running backs, and containing mobile quarterbacks such as Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. Williams will still need to bulk up and add some moves to his repertoire, but with what appears to be a strong work ethic, that shouldn’t be much of a problem.
