Some of our more seasoned Alabama Crimson Tide fans remember Kenny Stabler’s exploits on the field. Others remember him as the color commentator for the Crimson Tide Sports Network. Now Stabler is giving of his time to help ill and injured children.
The former Tide and Oakland Raiders star quarterback is hosting the 2013 XOXO Invitational charity golf tournament in Point Clear on March 7-9 to benefit Ronald McDonald House of Mobile, the XOXO Stabler Foundation announced.
Stabler, the foundation’s chairman, was pleased to be able to help raise funds to benefit RMHC Mobile, which serves families of seriously ill and injured children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals.
“We are thrilled to be back at the world-class Grand Hotel”, Stabler said, “furthering our mission to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes like the Ronald McDonald House of Mobile.”
Among the celebrities committed to attend the tournament are Bob Baumhower, Roman Harper, Joey Jones, Barry Krauss, Ray Perkins, Dwight Stephenson and Daniel Moore.
Another commitment, artist Steve Skipper will auction his original painting, “Through The Storm,” depicting the 2011 Crimson Tide victory over LSU in the BCS Championship game, following the devastating April 2011 tornadoes that struck Alabama. A portion of the proceedings will benefit the Ashley Harrison Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in honor of University of Alabama student Ashley Harrison, who was killed in the Tuscaloosa tornado.
