Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide players and staff visit President Obama on March 6, their second straight year after winning the 2013 BCS National Championship.

Alabama teams won multiple national championships in 2012. However, only the football team took the plane ride to Washington D.C. to visit the president at the White House. The three championship-winning teams should join the football team on their trip.

Alabama gymnastic coach Sarah Patterson said last year she never visited the White House after any of her six national championships. She said none of her six championship teams were invited because the White House did not have a celebration honoring the NCAA spring sports champions those years.

While the football team takes one more trip to the country’s capitol, the gymnastics, softball, and women’s golf teams await their invitation to visit President Obama.

Why should they not visit the White House and have their time to shine?

These three teams provide Alabama fans with the opportunity to show the school is more than just a “football school,” like so many people label it.  People need to realize Alabama has a dominant football team along with championship-winning gymnastics, softball, and golf teams.
