Alabama Crimson Tide Fan Shows off ‘Sons of Saban’ Tattoo

Alabama Crimson Tide football fans are nothing if not loyal to a fault, and some have ways of demonstrating it that go beyond the norm. You’re going to see this eventually today, so we thought we’d serve it up to you with your breakfast.

A Facebook fan page whose creator labels it an “Alabammer hate page” posted this photo of one fan’s new ink. The tattoo, patterned after the logo of the motorcycle gang at the center of the FX drama Sons of Anarchy, shows Death himself defending what might be one of the Tide’s crystal footballs with the most awesomely impractical weaponry in his arsenal.

Personal style is what it is. Tattoos have become mainstream, and they’re not the instant job-stoppers they was were. And as bad Alabama tattoos go, this particular one is not awful. It’s recognizable as an homage to the SoA logo. The composition is, artistically speaking, certainly better than some examples, though not as well-executed as others. But as Bama Nation, can we just make a new rule here and now?

No full-back, full-chest or full-sleeve tattoos, from now on. Just don’t do it, no matter how much you love the Crimson Tide and want to show it to the world at large.

Unless you’re their quarterback.
