Kirby Smart to Speak at Music City Sports Fest

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart will be one of the speakers at the Music City Sports Fest taking place in Nashville, Tennessee on May 31 and June 1.

Hosted by 102.5 The Game sports host George Plaster, the annual sports event allows sports fans to get up close and personal with local, regional and national sports programs and personalities. The festivities kick off on Friday at 3pm and will feature a 5k run on Saturday, and include speakers, clinics, games and more.

Smart is appearing at the event as part of the Ascend Federal Credit Union Speaker Series. Other speakers will include former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones, Vanderbilt head football coach James Franklin, and sports agent Jimmy Sexton.

Smart has been the Tide’s defensive coordinator since 2008, and his defenses have dominated college football as Alabama has reeled off three BCS National Championships in four years. He was named the American Football Coaches Association’s Assistant Coach Of The Year in 2012.

The Music City Sports Fest is being held at Nashville’s Music City Center. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased on the Sports Fest website.
