Alabama Basketball: Devonta Pollard Arrested on Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping Charges

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

According to reports by al.com and WTOK-TV in Meridian, Mississippi Alabama forward Devonta Pollard was arrested on Tuesday in his home state of Mississippi and charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Pollard was linked to the April kidnapping of Jashayla Hopson, a 6 year old resident in Scooba, Mississippi. Hopson was found a day later unharmed. Devonta Pollard’s mother, Jesse Mae Pollard, was arrested in early May and charged with kidnapping.

Devonta Pollard joins five others that have been charged with a role in the Jashayla Hopson kidnapping.

Pollard’s arrest isn’t the first surprising twist in Alabama’s basketball program this offseason. Star guard Trevor Lacey announced that he would be leaving the Crimson Tide and transferring schools in April.
