AJ McCarron Gets the Tabloid Treatment in British Newspaper

When the quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide makes the gossip pages of British newspapers, you know Tide football is the toast of the sports world.

The Daily Mail, a popular UK-based newspaper, ran last night with the breathless claim that a ‘lingerie model’ spend the night at Tide QB AJ McCarron’s place. McCarron, as you would have found out by reading other sites than this one, has been dating model and professional celebrity Katherine Webb for some time.

RadarOnline apparently was the first site with the ‘scoop’ that Margaret Wood, a contestant in the Maxim magazine Hometown Hottie contest, had some adult beverages and that McCarron had asked her not to drive in her condition.

RO quotes Wood saying all sorts of juicy-but-not-really things directed at Webb, and the entire sordid story is a whole lot of nothing other than a TMZ-style airing of the kind of breathless gossip that has caused many a late-night hair-pulling on the Strip in Tuscaloosa.

Ever quick to come to her son’s defense, McCarron’s mom took to the web to voice displeasure at the stories:

Feel free to go read all the stuff yourself, shake your head at what passes for news these days, and then come back over here later today to vote in the latest matchup in our quest to crown the greatest Alabama Crimson Tide football player of all time.

At some point we may run a tournament to crown the greatest Alabama playa of all time, and at this rate, AJ McCarron might just best Joe Willie Namath once again.
