The Alabama Crimson Tide returned to practice Wednesday and with the Tide returned receiver Kenny Bell. After the drama surrounding his possible departure from the team yesterday, he was back with the receivers fully participating in practice.
Cornerback John Fulton was spotted wearing a wrap on his right wrist yesterday afternoon and he told reporters that he suffered a slight injury early on in the Virginia Tech game. He wasn’t wearing the wrap at practice.
Jalston Fowler was again working with the running backs.
During today’s SEC coaches teleconference Nick Saban again said that he felt the season opener against Virginia Tech was a “wake up call” to some of the guys on the team. He said that he felt like the players re-committed themselves to the team this week during practices.
He said that both Kenyan Drake and Geno Smith will play against Texas A&M but still have to earn their way up the depth chart.
Saban praised Vinnie Sunseri on his game preparation and film studying, saying that being a coach’s son helps on that front. He also said that HaHa Clinton-Dix and Nick Perry do that as well and said of Alabama’s safeties, “we’ve got some safeties who are really bright players.”
He said that Alabama didn’t practice much on the zone-read that Virginia Tech’s Logan Thomas did and that he thought the defensive players did a “really good job managing that.”
No players were wearing black, non-contact jerseys other than the quarterbacks of course.
As we reported earlier today Alabama’s already top rated 2014 recruited class got more great news as the #1 prospect in the country, Cameron Robinson, committed to Alabama.
Alabama begins preparation for Texas A&M tomorrow.
