BamaHammer Player of the Week: Kenyan Drake

Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kenyan Drake is our first two-time BamaHammer Player of the week, after a brief hiatus and a difficult decision process. Several players had fantastic stat lines in the game, but in terms of his effort and desire to impact the game, we gave the nod to the backup running back.

Drake carried the ball 14 times in the 48-7 blowout of Kentucky this past weekend, gaining 106 yards – a career high – and finding the end zone twice. He also had three catches for 44 yards.

The sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga. had a rocky start to the game, fumbling the ball and earning the ire of head coach Nick Saban along with starting running back T.J. Yeldon.

Drake has 298 yards rushing this season with five touchdowns, and has another 90 yards and one score receiving.

2013 Players of the Week:

Colorado State – Kenyan Drake

Texas A&M – AJ McCarron

Virginia Tech – Christion Jones
