Trevor Releford Named First Team All-SEC, Alabama Picked to Finish Sixth in SEC

Wednesday marked the unofficial start to the SEC basketball season. SEC coaches, players, and media members kicked off SEC Basketball Media Days at the Westin in Birmingham, Alabama.

All fourteen Southeastern Conference men’s and women’s basketball coaches and programs will meet with the media over the next two days.

Alabama men’s head coach Anthony Grant and senior guard Trevor Releford will meet with the media to kickoff the day on Thursday. Tide women’s coach Kristy Curry will follow in her first SEC Media Days appearance as Alabama head coach.

Media members voted on all-conference team selections and casted their votes in the preseason media poll.

Trevor Releford was the lone Tide selection to an all-conference team. Releford was named to the All-SEC first team.

Kentucky led all schools with four all-conference selections, including freshman forward Julius Randle’s selection as first team All-SEC.

Alabama was picked to finish sixth in the conference, slated between Missouri and Ole Miss. Kentucky ran away with the preseason crown grabbing all but six first place votes.
