The top-ranked Crimson Tide hit the practice field again today as it continues preparation for this weekend’s foe Chattanooga.
Tight end Brian Vogler continues to work with a trainer off to the side during drills but looks to be improving as the days go from his injured ankle. He remains in a black, non-contact jersey.
Tailback T.J. Yeldon watched most of the running back drills from the sideline as he too tries to bounce back from a sprained ankle.
Tight end O.J. Howard looked to be a full participant in practice today after being limited on Monday.
Cornerback Deion Belue continues to participate in some drills while sitting out others as the Alabama staff tries to keep him healthy as he continues to deal with his turf toe problems. Fellow corner Bradley Sylve is still limping a bit as he tries to recover from his high ankle sprain however his workload in practice continues to increase.
Freshmen quarterbacks Cooper Bateman and Parker McLeod are playing the role of Chattanooga quarterback Jacob Huesman (1,637 yards, 16 TD, 5 INT passing; 894 yards, 9 TD rushing) for the scout team. Freshmen running backs Derrick Henry and Altee Tenpenny are playing the role of Chattanooga’s Keon Williams (687 yards, 9 TD) while Alvin Kamara and Tyren Jones play the role of Marquis Green (282 yards, 1 TD).
Scouts from the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals attended practice.
Junior left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio was named a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy today. In the past Chris Samuels (1999), Andre Smith (2008) and Barrett Jones (2011) have all won the Outland Trophy while playing at Alabama.
