As Alabama fans shake off the Iron Bowl loss to the Auburn Tigers, we must point out what bright spots we can. In the last regular season game of his career in Tuscaloosa, Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron becomes a two-time BamaHammer Player of the Week.
Even in the loss, McCarron continues to pad his stats and lay claim to more Alabama records. McCarron was 17-of-29 for 277 yards and three touchdowns in the game, including a 99-yard strike to Amari Cooper that is the longest such scoring play in Alabama history.
McCarron owns the Alabama school records for career touchdown passes, passing yards and completions, and total offense and total wins among others. Despite the loss, he is still a strong contender for the Heisman trophy, capping what would be a legendary career by any measure.
Even without the three-peat Tide fans had hoped for this season, they got to witness greatness, the likes of which the Capstone may not see for some time.
