Crimson Tide Recruiting Roundup

The month of December is upon us and recruiting really starts to pickup. Prospects will flip between schools, new prospects will emerge and others will give their verbals. The Tide coaching staff hit the road this week since they do not have to spend the time preparing for the SEC Championship. You could look at it as a positive where the Tide can close the gap on their targets or increase their lead and form closer bonds with the prospects.

First visit of the week was Coach Saban and Coach Smart at Hoover High School to see 5* CB Marlon Humphrey. As of right now, it is between Florida State and Alabama. As most of you probably already know, Marlon’s father Bobby was top Alabama running back.

Offensive Coordinator Doug Nussmeier stayed in Tuscaloosa and checked on Tide commit 3* OLB Keith Holcombe.

On Tuesday, Coach Saban and Coach Napier were in Louisiana to see commits 5* OT Cameron Robinson, 5* S Hootie Jones and 4* WR Cameron Sims. Robinson will take an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. You can see what special surprise Cameron had for Coach Saban.

Also on Tuesday, Coach Smart was in Montgomery to see 4* ILB Shaun Hamilton. After the Iron Bowl, Hamilton shut down his recruitment and stated he was 100% committed to the Tide.

Coach Thompson made his way to Mobile to see Bama commit 4* C Josh Casher on Tuesday.

Running backs coach Burton Burns was in Louisiana to check on 5* RB Leonard Fournette and 5* WR Malachi Dupre. Dupre will likely officially visit Tuscaloosa on January 17. Fournette will officially visit on December 13-15. Coach Saban is expected in to see him today. Both prospects appear to be LSU leans as of now but with Coach Saban and staff, you never know what could happen.

Tide Offensive Coordinator Doug Nussmeier made his way to Norman, OK to check in on Tide commit 4* QB David Cornwell on Tuesday as well. Cornwell tweeted out this video of him taking a full court basketball surgery 6 weeks after he underwent surgery to repair his ACL. Cornwell will take an official to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

Today, Coach Saban and Coach Smart will visit 5* S C.J. Hampton. Hampton is currently committed to Ole Miss but there are strong signs that he will eventually end up with the Crimson Tide. There is a possible official visit to LSU this weekend for Hampton but plans are still tentative. Scheduled for the same day, Coach Cristobal will visit Bama commit 4* OL Ross Pierschbacher in Cedar Falls, IA. Coach Nussmeier will be in Cincinnati to see 4* WR Bama commit Derek Kief.

Secondary Coach Brown is expected to make his way to California on Thursday to check on 5* S John “JuJu” Smith. USC, Alabama and Notre Dame look to be the favorites with USC holding a decent lead in 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions.

Coach Thompson is expected to be in Virginia on Thursday to see Bama commit 5* DE Da’Shawn Hand

Coach Saban and Coach Thompson is expected in Kentucky to visit 5* DT Matt Elam on Tuesday of next week. This looks to be an Alabama, Kentucky race as of now. Most believe Alabama holds a slight lead. Coach Thompson also visited him yesterday. The below tweets are from Drew DeArmond.
