C.J. Mosley, Christion Jones Named SEC Players of the Year

After being named to the AP and Coaches’ All-SEC team earlier this week, senior Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year by the SEC’s coaches today, along with Missouri’s Michael Sam. Mosley is currently in Houston, TX for the Lombardi Award ceremony.

Mosley was also named to the USA Today All America first team. Fellow teammate offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio was named to the second team as they were the only two Alabama players named to the USA Today’s All America team.

In addition, Alabama wide receiver Christion Jones was named the Special Teams Player of the Year by the SEC coaches.

Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell was named the Freshman of the Year, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Texas A&M tackle Jake Matthews was awarded the Jacobs Blocking Trophy (best offensive lineman), and Auburn’s Guz Malzhan was named the SEC Coach of the Year.
