As rumors continue to swirl about Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the Texas head coaching job, both Paul Finebaum and NFL.com’s Gil Brandt revealed on Tuesday that they had been told that a contract extension between Alabama and Saban was imminent.

On ESPN, Finebaum commented that Saban has had a contract offer since Friday and that he believed a new deal with the Tide would be announced very soon. Later in the day NFL.com’s Gil Brandt revealed that after talking to sources, Saban and Alabama were negotiating a new contract extension worth seven million dollars per year.

The rumors surrounding Saban just seem to never go away, and even this week message boards claimed a private jet from Tuscaloosa flew to Austin, with Saban on board. The only problem with that rumor was Saban had been in Kentucky all day that day talking to recruits. Saban has been on the recruiting trail almost daily since the Iron Bowl, save for Alabama’s team banquet this past weekend.

Sure, the contract proposal is imminent, but the key is getting him to sign it. If you feel under appreciated where you work and you have the opportunity to work for someone with endless resources and $, why not jump ship? We are creatures of habit, and considering his history… Well?
