Thursday Alabama returned to the practice field again in full pads under sunny skies at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
The biggest bit of news is that All-SEC linebacker Trey DePriest looked to be limping around during practice and was limited during certain drills. Senior Tana Patrick was filling in at his spot when DePriest was not doing the drills. Saban won’t speak to the media again until Sunday, so we won’t know much more until then about the severity of his injury.
Offensive tackle Leon Brown was working at right guard some during practice, which means he may also me in contention for job to replace Anthony Steen in the Sugar Bowl, along with Grant Hill, Kellen Williams, and Alphonse Taylor. Backup center Chad Lindsay has also been getting reps at guard.
Suspended Alabama defensive end LaMichael Fanning remains absent during practice. His future will likely be decided after the season.
Jack linebacker Xzavier Dickson was not seen during the media’s viewing period so it is unclear if there is a problem with him or not yet.
Injured defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson continues to work in individual drills with the defensive line and was even doing a little of one-on-one contact drills as he continues to rehab his knee.
