Nussmeier Leaves Tide for Michigan

Doug Nussmeier, who served as offensive coordinator for Alabama for two seasons, will assume the same position at Michigan, replacing former Auburn assistant Al Borges, who was not retained earlier today. Nussmeier, is set to become one of the top 5 highest paid assistant coaches in the country, according to CBS Sports.

Nussmeier joined Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama when Jim McElwain left to become head coach of Colorado State after the 2011 season. The Crimson Tide offense set school records in 2012 for touchdowns, total points and total offense. Prior to joining the Alabama staff, Nussmeier held a similar position at Washington, where he interviewed in December for a head coaching position.

There has been no news from the University of Alabama on potential candidates for the offensive coordinator position.
