Multiple sources are reporting that former USC head coach Lane Kiffin is a candidate for the offensive coordinator position with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
CBSSports.com writer Jeremy Fowler reports that Kiffin is interviewing as early as Thursday. Kiffin spent some time in Tuscaloosa prior to the Sugar Bowl, and at the time reports said Kiffin was advising Saban on the offense.
From the report:
Kiffin runs a pro-style offense, which fits with Saban’s style of ball control and a physical running game. But Saban has said recently that he’s open to upping the tempo to adapt to attack defenses.
Al.com is also reporting that former Crimson Tide quarterback Freddie Kitchens has emerged as a candidate. Kitchens was the quarterbacks coach for the Arizona Cardinals last season, having been their tight ends coach for the previous six seasons.
BamaHammer has been told current Alabama wide receivers coach Billy Napier could receive consideration as well. Napier coached quarterbacks at Colorado State under former Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain.
