The Onion Spoofs Nick Saban’s Recruiting Prowess

A popular satirical website has taken aim at Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban’s reputation as a relentless recruiter.

The Onion, a humor website that operates under the guide of a news site, complete with fake headline news, posted a story with the cleverly leading title, “High School Quarterback Starting To Suspect Friendship With Nick Saban Founded On Ulterior Motives.” (The Onion is slightly NSFW, so don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

The story quotes a fictional high school quarterback who is beginning to suspect his new friendship with Saban may not be what he initially thought.

“Coach Saban introduced himself to me right after I started breaking the passing records at my school, and it did seem kind of weird, but I just assumed he wanted to make friends with someone who loved football as much as he does,”

Go read the article, and let us know if you think Jacob Coker may suddenly be thinking the same thing.

Coker has to go somewhere. He has the physical attributes of the “prototypical” quarterback, and is supposedly more mobile than AJ was. I think he also graduates this spring. Might be a good fit for us if he can run some up-tempo plays and throw the ball accurately. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I’m pretty sure Coker knows why Saban is interested in him. Roll Tide!
