The Alabama women’s basketball team earned a signature win for coach Kristy Curry Thursday night as the Crimson Tide shocked the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats 57-55.
Daisha Simmons led all Tide scorers with 21, including the game-winning shot with three seconds remaining. Alabama had trailed early in the second half, but a 16-2 run gave Alabama the lead before Kentucky tied the game with just under 13 seconds remaining.
The win at Lexington is the first for the Tide women since 1998, and the first against a ranked opponent since 2012, also against Kentucky.
Alabama hosts Georgia on Sunday in Tuscaloosa’s Foster Auditorium.
