Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy may be preparing for a career after the NFL.
McElroy, who won a national championship with the Tide, made an appearance on FOX Football Daily to talk about Alabama’s loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, and the recent hiring of Lane Kiffin as the Tide’s offensive coordinator.
Drafted by the New York Jets in 2011, he spent most of his time as a backup, appearing in two regular-season games for the Jets in 2012. McElroy completed 19-of-31 passes for 214 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
McElroy was waived after the 2013 preseason, and signed to a reserve/future contract with the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this month.
A Rhodes Scholar, McElroy is likely much more suited to the analyst’s booth, or even the front office, than the gridiron. Whichever direction his career takes, Bama Nation no doubt wishes him the best.
