Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn Says Iron Bowl Trophy Will Be In Auburn 'A While'

Auburn Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn showed fans he understands the Iron Bowl rivalry during halftime of Auburn’s blowout win at home against Alabama.

Malzahn accepted the Foy-ODK Sportsmanship Award, the trophy claimed by each year’s winner of the Alabama-Auburn football game, playing to the crowd with his brief remarks:

“I’m here to tell you, this trophy is gonna be around here a while,” Malzahn said to the roaring approval of the Auburn faithful.

While the Crimson Tide’s football team has seemingly been built around stopping LSU each year, it’s clear that at least one coach in Alabama knows full well that if either team has any aspirations for a national championship, they must win the Iron Bowl.
