The University of Alabama announced on Wednesday afternoon that junior forward Nick Jacobs will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Crimson Tide’s basketball team.
Per UA Press Release:
“Nick and I met early this week regarding a pattern of behavior and inconsistencies with his responsibilities as a student-athlete,” Grant said. “When addressed with these off-the-court issues, he requested a leave of absence, which I granted. He and I both feel it is in his best interest to step away from the team for the immediate future. We will continue to provide Nick the support and assistance he needs to reassess his priorities and focus on his well-being.”
The 6-foot–8, Atlanta native has seen action in every game this season and has made 10 starts. He has been an intricate part of Anthony Grant’s squad since arriving on campus. Junior center Carl Engstrom and freshman forward Jimmie Taylor will likely help fill the void left by Jacobs.
