As the Crimson Tide continue their quest for a 16th national championship, fans are primarily focused on what’s happening on the field. We are constantly attempting to keep up with the inner workings of practice, the development of the players and the atmosphere of the locker room. After all, this is isn’t just football that we are talking about. It’s Alabama football. And as the saying goes:

“Other schools play football. At Alabama, we live it.”

It’s hard not to get wrapped up in what our players contribute physically to the program. It’s no secret that athletic talent and strength are the most desired traits on the field. But what about characteristics off of the field? With so many high-profiled athletes under the microscope 24/7, controversy surrounds college football. From Johnny Manziel to Jameis Winston, scandal is nothing new to this sport. And sadly, adversity makes for a far better story than positivity.

But what about the players who are doing it right?

Many of the Alabama faithful know the name Landon Collins. They know the impact he made last season with the brief absence of HaHa Clinton-Dix and the injury of Vinnie Sunseri. They know his capabilities on defense in big games. And they know his eagerness to prove himself at any position. What is not well-known about Collins are the traits that make him such an asset to this team.

Coach Saban sees these qualities in Collins:

“I think he’s trying to affect other people, be a leader set a good example, encourage others to do things the way they need to do it.”

Even on social media, Collins is constantly inspiring his teammates and exhibiting his abilities as a leader:

During a time when integrity has taken a backseat to irresponsibility, it’s nice to know that the Crimson Tide has an upstanding individual in Landon Collins.
