The Alabama Crimson Tide football team took to the practice field for the first time since this past Saturday’s scrimmage following a rainy weekend.
Sophomore cornerback Eddie Jackson was not in attendance at practice after suffering an ACL injury during the scrimmage that will require surgery. Nick Saban made a statement earlier today confirming the injury, though not specifically saying it was an ACL tear, and that he was confident that Jackson would be healthy in time for the fall.
In Jackson’s place was Bradley Sylve with the first team cornerbacks. Cyrus Jones remained the other corner. Freshman Tony Brown was working through drills despite aggravating a previous shoulder injury in a fall during track practice. He was wearing a brace on the shoulder. Alabama was doing some nickel defensive drills during practice today during the media viewing period. Jones and Sylve were the corners while Landon Collins and Geno Smith manned the two safety spots. Jarrick Williams was at star and the linebackers were Trey DePriest and Reggie Ragland.
During the second team’s nickel drills it was true freshman Tony Brown and Anthony Averett at cornerback with Jabriel Washington and Nick Perry at safety. Maurice Smith and Geno Smith took turns at star and Dillon Lee and Reuben Foster were the linebackers.
The first team offensive line was Brandon Greene at left tackle, Arie Kouandjio at left guard, Ryan Kelly at center, Leon Brown at right guard, and Austin Shepherd back at his usual right tackle spot. When the second team bounced in it was freshman Cameron Robinson at left tackle, Isaac Luatua at left guard, walk-on Paul Waldrop at center, Leon Brown at right guard, and Grant Hill at right tackle.
Former Alabama cornerback and current Cincinnati Bengal Dre Kirkpactrick was in attendance at today’s practice.
