Alabama Crimson Tide running back TJ Yeldon sits at 15-to-1 odds of winning the 2014 Heisman trophy, according to Sportsbook.ag.
The oddsmaker lists Yeldon sixth among its favorites to win the award, with the reigning Heisman winner, Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston, its favorite.
Yeldon carried the ball 207 times for Alabama in 2013 as a sophomore, piling up 1235 yards on the ground. He added 20 catches for 183 yards. The junior from Daphne, Al. figures to be the starter again this season, but is being pressed by sophomore Derrick Henry.
Henry came on strong in the latter half of the 2013 season, including a 100-yard showing in the Sugar Bowl loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. The huge back figures to get even more carries this season coming off the bench in relief of Yeldon, and adds massive size to his impressive speed.
Henry is listed as at 45-to-1 odds to win the Heisman by Sportsbook.
Yeldon is among six players from the Southeastern Conference listed in the odds table, and is behind only Georgia running back Todd Gurley, who is at 9-to-1 odds.
The other SEC players are Nick Marshall (Auburn, 22:1), Mike Davis (South Carolina, 28:1) and Dak Prescott (Mississippi State, 55:1).
