Sporting News Projects Alabama Loss to Oklahoma in Playoff

The Alabama Crimson Tide will lose to the Oklahoma Sooners for the second year in a row, according to bowl projections by The Sporting News.

Their extensive projections cover all of the 2014-15 bowls, including the new four-team playoff for the national championship. In that playoff, SN has Oklahoma facing Alabama in the Rose Bowl, and the Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles squaring off in the Sugar Bowl.

Oregon and Oklahoma are their picks to meet in the creatively titled College Football National Championship Game.

Alabama has gone through some rethinking on defense, as Nick Saban and company try to adapt to the rise of the no-huddle spread offense.

The Crimson Tide dropped its last two games of the 2013 season to teams featuring that offense. Auburn shocked undefeated and top-ranked Alabama on the last play of the Iron Bowl, and the Sooners demolished a lackluster Tide in last season’s Sugar Bowl.
