Former Alabama running back Mark Ingram is known to Tide fans for his relentless running style. Now the Heisman trophy winner and current New Orleans Saint is taking his power to the racetrack in a new ad for Russell Athletic.

Russell’s website shows off a behind-the-scenes video for Ingram’s photo shoot:

Ingram has been hampered by injuries and has yet to live up to his status as the top running back taken in the 2011 NFL Draft. But Saints fans are hopeful he can emerge as a leader this season and be the team’s top rusher.

In a recent piece on al.com, Ingram said he hopes to focus on the future, and not just his history-making past:

“It was a blessing to win the Heisman,” Ingram said. “That’s in the past. I’m trying to focus on my NFL career and be the best I can be in the NFL. Just because you win the Heisman, doesn’t mean you’re going to be a great NFL player.”

The NFL is a pass-first league, and it takes a truly exceptional back to make an impact on any pro team. Ingram is a dogged competitor, and has an amazing work ethic. If he can remain injury-free and earn the trust of his coaches and team, this could finally be a breakout year for an Alabama legend.
