On Tuesday the NFL confirmed that former Alabama All-American and first round draft pick Rolando McClain has officially been reinstated to the NFL’s active players list, and was traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2015 sixth round draft pick.
McClain stated after working out for the Ravens back in April that he was “done with football for good,” and retired again, leaving most to believe that he would not be returning.
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter claims that he has confirmed that McClain wants to play and it would seem very unlikely Dallas would trade a draft pick for McClain if they were not positive he would at least be on the team for training camp.
This news came briefly after the Dallas Cowboys placed started middle linebacker Sean Lee on IR (injured reserve) after he tore his ACL in off season workouts. McClain will now try to compete to take Lee’s spot and if it goes well and McClain returns to his old form, the Cowboys could have a beastly group of inside linebackers when Lee returns.
