Alabama offensive tackle Brandon Hill has been released from his scholarship, according to a Tweet from his account Thursday afternoon.
With that being said I have been released from the University of Alabama! I want to thank the coaches for all they support! #RollTide

There are no other details available at this time.
Hill enrolled at Alabama out of Collierville, TN as a three star recruit. He showed up on campus in early 2013 at nearly 400 pounds, and was thought to be a long-term project.
Hill’s recruitment was controversial. He originally committed to Alabama, but as reported by SB Nation, in November of 2012 dropped the Tide for Ole Miss. However, Hill had already signed an SEC financial aid agreement that prohibited his recruitment by other schools.
It may be that Hill’s progress to this point was not seen as being enough to warrant having him tie up a scholarship, but we’re sure more will be explained going forward.
