Alabama OL Brandon Hill Released From His Scholarship

Alabama offensive tackle Brandon Hill has been released from his scholarship, according to a Tweet from his account Thursday afternoon.

There are no other details available at this time.

Hill enrolled at Alabama out of Collierville, TN as a three star recruit. He showed up on campus in early 2013 at nearly 400 pounds, and was thought to be a long-term project.

Hill’s recruitment was controversial. He originally committed to Alabama, but as reported by SB Nation, in November of 2012 dropped the Tide for Ole Miss. However, Hill had already signed an SEC financial aid agreement that prohibited his recruitment by other schools.

It may be that Hill’s progress to this point was not seen as being enough to warrant having him tie up a scholarship, but we’re sure more will be explained going forward.

Saban takes on the occasional Big Man project. He was the only one to touch Mt Cody with a 10 foot pole and he took Brandon Ivory as a 3 star. Just didn’t work out for Hill . Good luck to the young man…

Thanks, I was hoping the big guy would work out. Saban took D.J. Fluker and chained him to his strength and conditioning coach and changed the kid’s body into a monster right tackle for the San Diego Chargers. He likes his big men.. He went after another 370+ lb recruit in the last class and he stayed in the ACC I think. I’m hoping we land another huge NG the likes of Cody or Jesse that eats up 3 blockers at a time. That’s Saban football the way I like to see it….Can’t teach big…
