Alabama OL Ryan Kelly Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

Alabama center Ryan Kelly has been named to the 2014 Rimington Trophy watch list as the preseason awards lists continue to roll out.

Kelly, a junior from West Chester, OH, is among 64 centers from around the country placed on the watch list. He is in his second season in that role, having taken over for the stellar Barrett Jones, who won the award in 2012.

Kelly’s presence and leadership will be needed on the 2014 Crimson Tide squad as they look to replace two members of their offensive line. He started in nine games in the 2013 season, missing four games to a knee injury.

The Rimington trophy is awarded to the country’s most outstanding Division 1-A center. It is voted on by members of the Walter Camp Foundation, writers for Sporting News, and members of the Football Writers Association of America.
