Former Alabama QB Greg McElroy to Host SiriusXM Show

Former Crimson Tide and New York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy will be making his debut as host of a new SiriusXM morning show.

McElroy will be teamed with SiriusXM host Taylor Zarzour on The First Team, which makes its debut on July 14 during SEC Media Days on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91.

The show will air live every weekday from 7:00 – 10:00 am ET/6:00 – 9:00 am CT.

“I am excited to be joining the SiriusXM team,” said McElroy. “Having the opportunity to talk with fans and explore the college landscape on a daily basis will be very rewarding. I can’t wait to get started.”

As the Tide’s starting quarterback, McElroy helped lead Alabama to a 14-0 record and a BCS National Championship in 2009. Along the way, McElroy led the Tide to a thrilling last-minute victory over Auburn in the Iron Bowl, and a 32-13 dismantling of the defending national champion Florida Gators in the SEC Championship game.

McElroy was behind only Peyton Manning with only one interception per 81.25 pass attempts in 2009, good enough for second in SEC history. He also completed 61 percent of his passes during the season.

He was taken by the New York Jets in the 2011 NFL Draft, where he spent two seasons before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals.
