Alabama Basketball: Retin Obasohan Undergoes Ankle Surgery

The University of Alabama and head basketball coach Anthony Grant announced Friday that junior guard Retin Obasohan underwent ankle surgery on the morning of July 11.

According to the press release, Obasohan’s surgery was successfully preformed by Dr. Norman Waldrop at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Obasohan has been a key player for Anthony Grant since his arrival in Tuscaloosa. Last season he had 54 steals and was the team’s second-leading scorer behind Trevor Releford.

Known for his extreme athleticism, Obasohan led the Crimson Tide in blocks last season with 29.

The university didn’t state when Obasohan sustained the injury to his left ankle. He is expected to make a full recovery.
