Wide receiver Calvin Ridley was named the overall MVP at The Opening, Nike’s invitation-only event for elite high school football players in Beaverton, Oregon.
Ridley impressed fans and media alike with a crazy one-handed catch earlier in the week-long competition. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound receiver out of Pompano Beach, FL committed to Alabama back in April, and used the competition to wow everyone watching.
He connected with fellow Alabama commit and Elite 11 MVP Blake Barnett on scoring drives, including a touchdown in the competition’s championship game, a 19-0 victory by Team Apocalypse over Team Landsharks.

Alabama fans can probably start getting used to seeing these two MVPs sharing the spotlight for some time to come.
