ESPN Asks Fans: Jacob Coker or Blake Sims?

ESPN College Gameday is stoking the fires of the Jacob Coker vs. Blake Sims competition.

Speculation is getting close to a fever pitch as the days wind down to Alabama’s first game of the 2014 season against West Virginia.

Nick Saban has avoided tipping his hand as to which quarterback will get the nod, but had extensive praise for Coker in his comments after Sunday’s open practice and Fan Day:

“He’s a very athletic guy, he’s got the right character, attitude, work ethic. He’s really fit in well with the other players in terms of the kind of personality he has and how they can relate to him. All those things have been extremely positive.”

Most of the speculation and attention has focused on Coker, of which Saban reminded the assembled media on Sunday.

“No one ever seems to ask about Blake Sims, but he has done extremely well so far in camp as well,” Saban said.

Sims was the only QB to meet with media after the practice, and had praise for his rival for the starting job, as seen in this video.

This site has maintained that Blake Sims will take the first snap from center in the first game of the season, regardless of who ultimately wins the job. Who is your pick to be the next Crimson Tide quarterback?
