Final Alabama Scrimmage Reports, Stats, and Videos

The final Alabama scrimmage was held today by the Crimson Tide in Bryant-Denny Stadium as they continue to prepare for the season opener against West Virginia in Atlanta, GA in two weeks. The scrimmage was closed to the general public, so the few updates came from various media outlets that attended the short viewing period.

According to BamaOnline’s scrimmage report, the first unit offensive line remained the same with Cameron Robinson, Arie Kouandjio, Ryan Kelly, Alphonse Taylor and Austin Shepherd. Freshman J.C. Hassenhauer was working with the second team at center with Bradley Bozeman moving to right guard.  Ross Pierschbacher at left tackle, Brandon Greene at left guard, and Grant Hill at right tackle rounded out the second team.

Trey DePriest and Reggie Ragland led the linebackers through drills. Defensive lineman Brandon Ivory was with the second team after returning from suspension. Tim Williams still wasn’t at practice.

The first team offensive line seems set it stone, barring any significant happenings prior to Atlanta. By all reports, freshman Cameron Robinson is showing he has what it takes and has benefited from early enrolling and having that extra time. There could still be a bit of acclimation period for the youngster but with a relatively easy schedule up until SEC play, he should be ready to go when he is needed the most.

The million dollar question for Tide fans is still which quarterback Coach Saban will go with in the opener. I truly think we will we see both Blake Sims and Jake Coker get equal snaps for the first few games, and the starter ultimately decided a few games into the season. The ESPN crew that attended practice last week had good things to say about both. As much as a team player that Blake is and if the competition is truly that close, expect Saban and staff to give both an opportunity in a game time setting.
