It’s spring time and we’re making predictions about how the SEC West will shake out. I am indeed a glutton for punishment and embarrassment. Take these SEC West predictions for what they are, a fun look at some of the many things that could happen in the SEC West.

You never know in college football, you doubly never know in the SEC West, but we love football so let’s talk about it anyway.

The Aggies came into the SEC like gangbusters… but have fallen off pretty quick. Remember when the Aggies were the hot pick to win the SEC west? Seems like only yesterday we were saying that Johnny Manziel was the next great QB and the Aggies were going to win a national championship… it didn’t work out that way.

I’m not saying they are going to lose every SEC game they play, they do play Vanderbilt this year, but I don’t have high hopes.

John Chavis is going to help the Aggie defense improve, but it’s going to take time. You don’t turn around a defense that’s allow 28 yards a game on average in a season. I think you have to give defensive coordinators more time than offensive coordinators, it’s a tough job changing a defense’s culture.

The Aggies depth on defense looks good at first glance, but there are a lot of sophomores playing big roles as starters and backups on that D.

As for offense, well this is Kevin Sumlin. Sumlin makes quarterbacks look good, and he will do some of that again this year. Can the Aggie offense hold up the Aggie defense for one more year?

We will find out about the Aggies quick as they play Arizona State right out of the gate on September 5th.
