Happy Friday morning to you, Bammers! Today’s Crimson Tide Report is all about football, from preseason projections to punishments.
ICYMI: Alabama Football’s Scott Cochran: Worth Every Cent
Athlon’s just-released Preseason All-America Team has the Crimson Tide on top once again. Bama and 2015 National Championship opponent Clemson each had eight players named to the list. For the Tide, Calvin Ridley, Jonathan Allen, JK Scott, and – looky here – Cam Robinson were honored by being placed on the first team.
While the rest of the country pitched a collective hissy fit that the DA decided not to pursue prosecution of Cam Robinson and Lawrence “Hootie” Jones, Nick Saban did what Nick Saban usually does. The Head Man quietly dealt his own brand of punishment to the Crimson Tide players, including community service, outpatient therapy, gun safety classes, and “indefinite suspensions.”

Some people aren’t thrilled that the boys haven’t been told they will specifically miss playing time in games. There are those who want both Robinson and Jones to be suspended from the first game or two of the season. That makes some sense, but when you consider that both players are being forced to miss all practices right now, it’s doubtful they will be at their top performances anyway.
It hasn’t been said whether the pair will indeed sit out the first game against USC September 3rd in Dallas, but regardless, the Crimson Tide should steamroll the Trojans. Just ask former Bama player and current NFL Charger DJ Fluker.
