Alabama Softball started off their run in the Easton Bama Bash with two wins over UCF and Texas A&M Friday night. The two wins take Alabama to a 10-2 record overall.

For Alabama Softball the two games told different tales. Game One game was a schooling in defense, while the bats warmed up in the second game. The combination gave Alabama Softball wins in their first two games of the weekend.

Game 1: Alabama vs. UCF

What Alabama softball does well is pitching and pitching they did well in Game One. Sydney Littlejohn (4-0) got the win and had a hand in shutting out UCF 4-0. Littlejohn, amazingly, has not given up a earned run in 27.2 innings of work this season.

The first Tide run of the day came from freshman Bailey Hemphill, who scored Claire Jenkins on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The bats would go cold until the sixth. A two-run home run by sophomore Merris Schroder gave the Tide a couple of insurance runs. Later, there were two in scoring position with two outs. A grounder to shortstop gave the shortstop the option of keeping and getting Ellissa Brown out at 2nd. Brown made some moves and amazingly made it to third base to give the runner at third the chance to come home, making the final score 4-0 Tide.

For the Knights, Alea White (1-4) got handed the defeat. Only the Knight’s designated player, Courtney Rotton, managed to get a hit on Littlejohn for the day, going 2 for 3.

Game 2: Alabama vs. Texas Tech

This is where the bats started to warm up for the Crimson Tide. They struck early in the top of the first. It started with a dropped fly ball that caused one run to score. That was followed shortly by a Peyton Grantham 2-RBI single that sent it to the 2nd 3-0 Crimson Tide.

That would be as much offense as Texas Tech could put out for the night. The bottom half of that inning saw Turner bring in one on a fielding error. That was followed by a Schroder solo home run to send the score to 6-2. The final run of the night was scored by Schroder with a RBI single. The final score was 7-2 Crimson Tide.

Osorio (5-1) got the win with 14 strikeouts in the complete game effort. For Texas Tech, Kassidy Scott (3-3) earned the loss with 13 hits and six earned runs.
