SEC East Winners
Florida:
The Gators started the Jim McElwain era with a win over New Mexico State. How cute! The Gators won 61-13 and the 61 points were the most in a coaching debut at Florida in school history.
Not only did New Mexico State get beat 61-13 on the field, they returned to their team bus to find it had been broken into. Some staffers got their personal belongings stolen including some laptops, keys and even an iPod. People still have those?
The QB battle carried over to the first game where Treon Harris and Will Grier both got meaningful action against the Aggies.
The Gators will have another week before SEC play to figure out who their quarterback is, as East Carolina comes to town.
Georgia:
Georgia continued one hell of a streak as they won yet another week one national championship! Seriously is there any other fan base that pumps up their week one wins against nobodies more than Georgia?
This game was called early with 9:54 left giving Georgia an official 51-14 victory.
The Bulldogs rushed for 243 yards with 120 of those coming from Nick Chubb; who according to bulldog fans has already won the Heisman. Guess what? Derrick Henry’s better!
The folks from Athens get a nice trip to Nashville this weekend, before returning home to their annual slap fight with South Carolina.
Kentucky:
The Wildcats scored with 57 seconds left on Saturday to beat Louisiana Lafayette by a touchdown. Yes you read that correctly.
Kentucky blew a three touchdown lead at home to the Ragin Cajuns, but were able to secure a victory with less than a minute left.
Kentucky heads to South Carolina on Saturday as we should learn a lot more about both teams.
No Wildcats, it is not basketball season yet.
New Florida coach Jim McElwain got the win in his Florida debut.
