Around the SEC: Week One

6 of 6

Yes. There were more Western Kentucky fans at Vandy than Vandy fans.

SEC East Loser:

As mentioned earlier, Vanderbilt was the only SEC team to lose in week one. Although it wasn’t for a lack of weak competition, the Commodores actually lost a game to Western Kentucky at home 14-12.

It was a pretty pathetic showing, something we’ve come to expect over the last calendar year from Vandy.

This game was 3-0 at the half with Vandy actually leading! They gave up two touchdowns while adding a field goal in between to make it 14-6. The Dores were able to score with 33 seconds left but of course they weren’t able to convert the two point conversion and thus lost at home to a team known as the Hilltoppers.

Serious question, is the Derek Mason hiring one of the worst in the history of the SEC? So far you’d have to say yes.

Check back next week for another Around the SEC roundup. This time we’ll have some actual SEC games to report on, and at least three SEC teams will have seen their dreams of an undefeated season shattered!
