We are still a few months away from the start of the 2016 football season and actual games being played, but that doesn’t mean we can’t smack talk our in-state rival over game a in November that will award bragging rights for a whole year.

According to an article from Al.com, Alabama has opened as the big favorite in the annual regular season finale.

The South Pointe Casino out in the deserts of Las Vegas has Alabama as an 18-point favorite.

Would you expect anything less? Going back to 2007 and Coach Nick Saban’s first season in Tuscaloosa, the Tide holds a 6-3 advantage in the game. One loss came in Saban’s first year. Two other victories fell in favor of the Tigers, including a fluke play at the end of one that we won’t talk about and there’s the one when Auburn went on to win the national title.

More times than not, Alabama is in the conversation for the national title game near the end of the season. This past year in Jeremy Johnson’s Heisman campaign season and the Tigers’ national title run, our opponents to the east instead decided to play in the Birmingham Bowl. That’s mighty neighborly of them to keep the tourism in state and not travel out for bowl season.

What do you think? Would you take Alabama to cover an 18-point spread in the game based on everything you know right now? Let us know.
